| Biography |
Roberto Joseph Cauzzo was born in 1956 to Italian parents and a rich Italian culture that would heavily influence many aspects of his life. His artistic heritage showed early in his life when his talent for graphic design had his folio exhibited in the Melbourne art gallery. A love of design a natural ability to visualize form and content along with his success in graphic design gained him entry into RMIT to study architectural drafting.
At the age of 12 he was helping his father in the family concreting business; this gave him a strong foundation for commitment and a skill that he would use throughout his life. Researching and developing materials and methods in this industry would take him on many twists and turns in a colorful career path that sees him on national TV Our House displaying his methods in colorful concrete stencil patterns, owning his own business and teaching overseas for three years in Dubai. Always the artist large and small commissions would see Roberto use his talent and he would design flowers, birds, wildlife or stylish simplistic designs within his work.
His strong Italian culture would show in his love of food and cooking which was also influenced at an early age by cooking with his mother. His artistic passion and need for perfection flows through in the wonderful dishes he would create in his own successful restaurant. This vision to renovate an old run down post office and turn it into the trendy stylish Italian restaurant "Bel Posto" is a tribute to the natural architectural vision that Roberto has talent for.
As his ever restless mind takes him into another level of developing what can be done with concrete surfacing he finds himself experimenting with epoxy resins. Four more years of researching the artist in Roberto finally explodes when through a series of mistakes, he is creating the most wonderful, colorful, exciting pieces of art. Colors that move and flow, meld and twist seemingly ever moving. Translucent, layered and metallic shimmering colors all catching the light to give strong dramatic explosions or softer more subtle hues.
Roberto has now found his passion in art and food continuing to evolve. His art is in a purer form using epoxy resins to create what he visualizes.
